THE CLIENT

Booker T. Washington Community Service Center is a historic San Francisco nonprofit based in the Fillmore District. For over a century, it has served as a cornerstone for Black youth and families—offering education, empowerment, and multigenerational community.

THE BRIEF

Create a visual identity for the organization’s inaugural Bloom Ball gala—something vibrant and meaningful, grounded in culture and celebration. The system should elevate the gala experience while staying deeply connected to Booker T.’s legacy and community voice.

THE APPROACH

The identity celebrates community in full bloom—layered, diverse, and full of personality. Designed to feel joyful and expansive, it creates space for new voices and shared connection, bringing people together with warmth, vibrancy, and a sense of belonging.

BRANDING

A system that grows.

Floral forms sit at the heart of the identity; symbols of resilience, beauty, diversity, and transformation. Rather than one central motif, a rotating set of blooms reflects the diversity of the community itself: layered, dynamic, and in constant motion. Paired with bold typography and rich color, the system brings together softness and strength in a way that feels celebratory, not sentimental.

ACTIVATIONS

Together, We Bloom

The brand came to life across every detail—menus, programs, banners, stage graphics, and table pieces—each one designed to carry the story and amplify the energy in the room. From print to projection, everything worked in harmony, creating an atmosphere that felt both grounded and luminous.
